Our Commitment to Safety
For decades, MPE has put the safety of its people first — backed by a formal safety program, ongoing training, and one of the strongest safety records in our industry.
Safety Is Built Into How We Work
A safe shop is a well-run shop. Protecting our team is a core part of how Midwest Plastic Engineering operates every day — not a program we bolt on, but a culture we have built and sustained over many years. That commitment shows up in our formal safety program, our employee-led safety committee, our training, and, most tellingly, in an incident rate that has stayed extremely low year after year.
Formal Safety Program
A documented, actively managed safety program governs how we work — from machine guarding and safe operating procedures to hazard reporting and corrective action.
Safety Committee
An employee-led safety committee keeps safety front-of-mind on the floor, reviews concerns, and drives continuous improvement across every shift.
Ongoing Training
Regular safety training keeps our team current on safe practices, equipment, and procedures — for new hires and veterans alike.
PPE Requirements
Clear personal protective equipment requirements are in place throughout the facility and consistently enforced.
Extremely Low Incident Rate
Our safety culture produces results: an incident rate that has remained among the lowest in our industry for decades.
A Long-Standing Culture
Our commitment to safety is not new — it goes back decades and is reflected in a long, documented record of recognition (below).
Award-Winning Safety Performance
In 1991 we joined the Michigan Plastic Processors Association (MPPA) workers’ compensation fund, and quickly became one of its top-performing members for safety. When MPPA later ceased operations, we carried the same standards to our current provider, MTMIC — and have never let up.

MPE joined the MPPA workers’ compensation fund, formalizing our commitment to safety and loss control.
MPPA Safety Flag
We earned MPPA’s Safety Flag every single year from 1991 through 2008 — recognition reserved for its top companies in safety performance.
MPPA President’s Award
We also won MPPA’s President’s Award every year from 1996 through 2008, awarded for the lowest loss level among all member companies.
Continued Excellence with MTMIC
After MPPA ceased operations, we moved to MTMIC and have sustained the same level of safety performance and low loss levels through today.
